DUBAI ANNOUNCED THE CREATION OF A 15-KILOMETER SKYWAY URBAN TRANSPORT SYSTEM

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Ibn Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Governor of Dubai, approved the package of projects proposed by the country's Ministry of Transport (RTA). The projects included the SkyWay urban transport system, with a total length of 15 km and 21 stations along the route. “We approved a package of development projects designed to continue the development of Dubai as the best city in the world. The SkyWay project, a 15-kilometer city transit system, will carry passengers between Dubai’s 21-station skyscrapers, ” His Highness said on Twitter .


The Dubai Media Office government media service published a visualization of the project, giving the following explanation: “Skypods, suspension transit systems that link such important infrastructure facilities as the Dubai International Financial Center and the city center. The project, in which 21 stations will be built, will allow transporting 8,400 passengers per hour in each direction. ”



The Dubai Media Office website states that the Skypods project (under this name SkyWay was presented in the UAE) “offers the experience of moving around the city in modernly designed modules plying between skyscrapers. The features of this transport include the unique design of the stations and the presence of supports supporting the rails along the track structure. The project will be visually harmonious with respect to the stations of the Dubai Metro.
